Rapid Ricky Joins MDA Promotions

October 26, 2020

MDA Promotions boss Matt Ward is adamant that Ricky Evans can go to the “next level” after joining the world class management team.

The World No.27 has linked up with MDA and is now aiming to finish 2020 on a high after a difficult year disrupted by the coronavirus.

Evans, 30, has shown flashes of brilliance over the past few years but is now determined to combine his profile as an oche jester with a title winner.

He said: “I’m delighted to join up with Matt Ward. He has a proven track record in producing winners and I need to have that cutting edge now.

“I’ll never change from having humour in my game. But I do need to switch it on and off and win big matches.

“I’ve had decent runs in tournaments. However, I need to be a quarter and semi-finalist more regularly now. I know I’ve got the ability.

“It’s been a really frustrating year for me on and off the oche. This is a really positive outcome and now I can just focus on playing darts again.”

Ward is convinced that Evans, nicknamed Rapid, has got the potential to roar up the rankings with the right backing and belief.

He added: “Ricky is a naturally talented player. People only see him for his larking about. But he can play and can be a very big scorer.

“I want him to realise his potential. I think he’s been off radar for far too long now. He’s a really great English player who can be a much more prominent figure in the game.

“I’m excited that he’s joined our stable. We’re obviously losing Harry Ward later this year but we have gained another player with bundles of talent.”
